Summary:

The community aid will support individuals with disabilities on a variety of temporary and seasonal community-based job training and recreation activities. Support will include training individuals on various job, work experience, recreational and social sites.

Supervision:
Team Leaders and Site Coordinator
Essential Functions:
  • Provide on-site training and support to individuals with disabilities on a variety of community-based work, volunteer, recreation, social, and/or home sites.
  • Conduct job task analyses to determine basic steps of jobs to be learned by the consumer.
  • Utilize a variety of positive training methods to successfully train and support consumers in a variety of settings.
  • Modify or restructure job duties and work environments when necessary to accommodate the needs of consumers (with employer and project coordinator  permission and input).
  • Observe and document consumer performance and behavior for required performance reviews/reports. 
  • Communicate and gather information from participating businesses on a regular basis regarding consumer performance and participation.
  • Develop and participate in sensitivity/awareness training regarding persons with disabilities at various sites.
  • Develop new and existing work and recreation sites with consultation from the Project Coordinator, Site Coordinator, Employer, and Teacher.
  • Must be able to lift 75lb. from the floor or wheelchair to assist individuals with wheelchairs and personal needs.
Other Job Duties:
  • Participate in team meetings and IEP meetings regarding consumers.
  • Assist with monthly reporting.
  • Attend relevant training and continue education regarding persons with disabilities.
  • Communicate progress at various sites.
  • Represent Todd Steven & Associates at various county and business functions in a professional manner.
  • Attend staff meetings for TS&A Inc. as scheduled.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Coursework or experience with persons with disabilities preferred.
  • Commitment to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Available and reliable transportation with proof of insurance.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A basic understanding of supported employment and job development.
  • A basic understanding of positive-teaching techniques.
